CNC Programmer/Set Up Operator - Afternoon Shift 2pm-1030 pm - Position Summary 

Salary: $54-58K

Without supervision: programs, sets up, and operates various CNC equipment and manual equipment such as mills, lathes, drill press, and grinders to fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts to meet print requirements. 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of calendar, email, internet, and CNC Programming software

An individual should be able to:

  • Choose correct tools to optimize program performance
  • Complete programs/setups in a timely manner
  • Read/evaluate prints
  • An individual must have:
  • Advanced math/geometry skills
  • Advanced machinist skills (make/grind tools)
  • Advanced knowledge of geometric tolerances
  • Knowledge of “G” Code programming

Essential Functions 

  • Understands GD & T
  • Reads and converts blueprints from metric to English
  • Programs machine tool to create parts to print, and selects the appropriate tools, securing them along with the work piece into the machine tool. This applies to all manual equipment as well
  • Determines proper machine speeds and feeds
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required
  • Measures parts using shop gages and understand the usage and application for each gage
  • Creates set up sheets with full detail so as to be used on future setups to repeat the manufacturing process in a consistent manor
  • Enters data into excel database, via electronic form, located on Machine Shop computer
  • Backs up Machine Shop Supervisor as needed
